For SS15 Lizzie McQuade looked to Marie Antoinette’s story, in particular Le Petit Trianon where the Queen Marie Antoinette could return to the pleasure of simple lifestyle. Lizzie used it as the starting point for her fresh and decorative exploration of organic and floral elements, rococo motifs, and rich textures.
Marie Antoinette’s fabricated vision of a country lifestyle, more simple and relaxed than that of Versailles but still permeated with the finery and rich detail with which she had become accustomed, set the tone for this dreamy and idyllic collection.
Combining it with influences ranging from Thai ceremonial headdresses, to rose gardens and the wallpaper at Ardtornish House, Lizzie McQuade creates a collection of hats that showcase her talents for hand embellishment and her romantic sensibilities.
